UC Office of the Provost Hosts Networking Events for Female Faculty

Continuing its deep commitment to encouraging emerging women leaders,

the Office of the Provost

is partnering with

UC Women Lead

and UC LEAF to kick off the academic year by co-hosting a series of networking events aimed at supporting women faculty across campus.

The first event on September 14 will be from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Myers Alumni Center. It will focus on speed mentoring and networking for female faculty, and include drinks, refreshments and light snacks. All female faculty are welcome.

“I believe in the saying that we can move farther when we work together,” said Eileen Strempel, senior vice provost for academic affairs. “The Office of the Provost is proud to co-sponsor this event with UC LEAF. The collective expertise will undoubtedly foster a rich dialog and deepen the web of cross-institutional support for female faculty.”

UC Women Lead is in its third year of creating opportunities for women faculty and staff to network, obtain career coaching, and develop skills for improved work-life balance in order to reach their leadership goals. This year’s networking events will allow participating faculty across campus to share best practices and discuss topics ranging from navigating the tenure track to building relationships with research collaborators and community partners. In addition, topics will also be tailored to specific faculty needs, such as grant-proposal writing and developing successful research and scholarship programs.

Follow-up events that will explore more deeply the individual topics will be hosted in 407 Annie Laws at the following dates and times:

  • October 20 for Full Female Professors from 11:30-1:30 p.m.
  • October 26 for Associate Female Professors from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
  • November 9 for Assistant Female Professors from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
