Sign Up for the 12th Annual MainStreet Stride by April 3
UC student groups will lead the annual red and black parade April 7 as faculty and staff cheer them on from MainStreet before joining the parade themselves. Faculty and staff department groups are encouraged to register by April 3 to reserve their prime cheering spaces.
The 12th annual MainStreet Stride continues a campus tradition: a springtime foot parade of red and black. Student organizations, as well as students representing offices across the university, dress up in their best (and often most creative) red-and-black spirit wear to parade their pride through campus.
Faculty and staff are the cheering section for the first half of the parade and then form the second half to the Campus Recreation Center.Bring Your Bearcat Pride to the MainStreet Stride!
The parade begins at 2 p.m. April 7 from University Plaza onto Campus Drive, and will proceed down the center of campus via MainStreet.
Campus Services is encouraging all student groups to lead the parade to show what makes them proud to be Bearcats. Festivities will start with a carnival at noon, culminating in the start of the parade in front of Teachers and McMicken. With greater student participation, we need people lined up along the MainStreet parade route to cheer them on. (Kind of like the sidelines of a Bearcat marathon.)
Solution? That’s where faculty, staff and departments come in: (1) gather in your departmental groups along MainStreet at your reserved spot, (2) cheer on the Striders by making lots of noise, and (3) after students pass, join the parade down MainStreet to the Campus Rec gym where you’ll enjoy the Largest Bearcat Sundae ever. Awards will be announced for top participating groups, then we will all witness the Student Government executive officers inaugurations.RSVP!

First come, first served for your prime reserved cheering space on MainStreet, and then to become the second half of the Red & Black Parade.
