NightRide recently began offering a shuttle service.

The University of Cincinnati Public Safety Department is excited to announce the new NightRide Shuttle service, now available with a Bearcat Card.

NightRide is an on-demand service that provides safe transportation for students, staff and faculty within one mile of UC’s main campus. The new shuttle runs on two routes and moves from one location to the next every 20 minutes.

“Our goal with the new shuttle service is to increase safety and reduce risk,” said Assistant Police Chief Maris Herold. “If we provide safe, reliable and timely transportation in areas that students frequent then they don’t have to walk alone.”

The routes were chosen based on the most frequented drop-off and pick-up locations, as well as areas of potential safety concern.

“The new shuttle service allows students to receive faster service than the on-demand NightRide vans provide,” said Barbara Hayes, Community Safety Manager. “Instead of having to call NightRide and wait to get picked-up, riders can walk up to a designated shuttle stop and get a ride.”

She added, “It gives students a much quicker way to get from other areas to Calhoun Street.”

The shuttles run on two routes, an East and a West route.

Hayes says that if more students begin using the shuttles, the wait times for NightRide’s on-demand service will also decrease.

Shuttle riders have given positive feedback about the service.

“The NightRide Shuttle was extremely convenient. It was nice to have an option other than waiting for a NightRide van or Uber,” said UC student Michelle Blauman.

The shuttles run from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. every day.
