New accessibility awareness course posted to Blackboard

The Accessibility Network at the University of Cincinnati has released an informational course in Blackboard entitled 17_EIT_02 (eAccessibility: An Introduction). The course was designed to provide faculty and staff with a foundational understanding of electronic accessibility and the role it plays at UC.

This course is optional at this time. We are in the process of finalizing compliance requirements with the Office of Civil Rights and you will be notified when the course becomes mandatory.

We welcome you to take our voluntary course as an introduction to making UC’s online environment more inclusive and accessible. The information will help you identify ways you can make your eLearning content accessible to all students, as well as how eAccessibility contributes to student success.

About the course:

  • The complete course takes approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete.
  • The course does not have to be completed in one sitting.

Each of the five sequential modules inclues:

  • A video to introduce concepts about eAccessibility.
  • A knowledge check to help reinforce concepts.
  • A final summary.

If you were not added to the course and would like to participate, please refer to the Blackboard Self Enrollment Guide. Additional resources can also be found at the end of this article.

Thank you so much for your support in moving UC beyond accessibility compliance toward a universally designed online experience accessible for all individuals. If you have any questions about the eAccessibility: An Introduction course, please email the program at accessibility.network@uc.edu.
