CCMs string quartet-in-residence dedicates its opening concert to
CCM Professor Emeritus Walter Levin
, who passed away on Aug. 4, 2017, at the age of 92. Levin was a founding member and first violinist of the LaSalle Quartet, which served as CCMs string quartet-in-residence for over 30 years.
During his tenue at CCM, Levin greatly enhanced CCMs international reputation while inspiring generations of future artists and scholars, including members of the Ariel Quartet. Levin had mentored the Quartet for the past decade. The Quartet traveled the world to work with Levin in southern France, Berlin, Paris, Basel and Cincinnati.
The Ariel Quartet is comprised of

, viola. The group was formed in Israel in 1998 and has served as CCMs string quartet-in-residence since 2012.
