UC Center for Business Analytics Presents Machine Learning Day Feb. 14


The University of Cincinnati's Center for Business Analytics's Machine Learning Day event on Feb. 14 features three morning keynotes and six afternoon case studies and technical presentations.

UC ingot   The University of Cincinnati's Center for Business Analytics will present Machine Learning Day on Feb. 14 at the Sharonville Convention Center. 

Machine learning is the science of getting computers to act without being explicitly programmed. In the past decade, machine learning has given us self-driving cars, practical speech recognition, effective web search, and a vastly improved understanding of the human genome. This event will cover the current state of machine learning, case studies in machine learning, and demonstrate how various software can be used in machine learning applications.

The event will feature three morning keynotes and six afternoon case study / technical presentations.  Presenting companies include Google, Kroger, SAS, Microsoft Azure, Opalytics, Big Squid and Domo.  Machine learning featured software in these presentations include TensorFlow, R, Python, and SAS Visual Analytics.

Morning keynote talks include:

"The Current State of Practical Machine Learning": Mohammad Taghi Saffar, Machine Learning Engineer, Google

"Machine Learning at Kroger" : Doug Meiser, General Manager of R&D Operations Research, Kroger

"The Predictability Predicament: Your Model Overlooks the Real Target": Claudia Perlich, Chief Scientist, Dstillery


There will be two afternoon sessions with three companies presenting in each session, 1:30-2:45 PM and 3:00-4:15 PM.  You will be able to choose one presentation during each session for a total of two.
