Verisimilitude Exhibit in UC Clermont Gallery
Verisimilitude, an exhibit by Artist Richard J. Luschek II is being featured in the UC Clermont College Art Gallery through August 29.
Join the artist for his reception tomorrow evening, August 8 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. in the gallery.
Verisimilitude is the appearance of truth Painters must be the visual poets of society, taking in the world, slowing it down, and presenting it for consideration, evoking an emotional response that at its best can elevate even the most common subject to the sublime. Only by being conscious of beauty and working toward an allusion of truth can one ever hope to produce art that is not only of our time, but timeless, said Luschek.
After graduating from UC with bachelor degrees in biology and fine art, Luschek studied at the Paul Ingbretson Studio of Drawing and Painting in Manchester, N.H. This rigorous training imparts a foundation of time honored techniques that blend solid academic drawing with beautifully seen impressionistic color. Emphasis is placed on accurate drawing with sensitivity to forms and edges, brilliant light effects, vibrant color and overall unity, said Luschek.
Luschek has taught for the Art Academy of Cincinnati, UC, as well as privately in his studio. He has worked as a scenic artist at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and was also trained as a cabinetmaker. Luscheks pen and ink illustrations have appeared in numerous publications. One of his portraits is in the permanent collection of the Cincinnati Art Museum and in private collections on the East Coast and in Cincinnati.
The UC Clermont Art Gallery is sponsored by Park National Bank and is located in the Snyder building on the UC Clermont College campus in Batavia at 4200 Clermont College Drive. Summer gallery hours are Monday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. 6 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. 4 p.m. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
