UC Clermont College Wins Service Learning National Award

UC Clermont College is this year’s co-recipient of the Community College National Center for Community Engagement's (CCNCCE) 2009 Service Learning and Civic Engagement Collaboration Award in the category of Collaboration with Social Agencies.

“The work which UC Clermont has been doing within the service learning field is commendable.  We hope that through your college’s leadership and that of faculty and staff, more institutions of higher education will integrate service learning and civic engagement within their institutions.  Clermont College also exemplifies the importance of collaboration and how through multiple partnerships, we can accomplish social transformation,” said Lyvier Conss CCNCCE executive director.

UC Clermont College will be presented with this award at the CCNCCE 18th Annual National Conference, which will be held n Scottsdale, AZ.

“We are honored to win this national award which acknowledges our successful collaboration with a variety of community partners.  Service learning provides wonderful opportunities for enhanced faculty engagement and improved student learning as the college meets important identified needs in the community,” said Barbara Wallace, director of UC Clermont’s College Success Program.
 
UC Clermont has collaborated with the following organizations: Boys & Girls Clubs, Clermont Senior Services, Cincinnati Reads, Child Focus, Thomaston Woods and Batavia and West Clermont school districts.
