Architecture and design firms across the country continue to be enormously impressed by graduates they have hired from the University of Cincinnati, according to the latest annual rankings from the Almanac of Architecture & Design and DesignIntelligence magazine.
UC's interior design program was rated No. 1 in the nation and UC's architecture program was rated No. 3, based on a survey of hiring experiences that sampled hundreds of firms in each field. Both programs are part of UC's School of Architecture and Interior Design within the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning.
This was the third straight No. 1 ranking for UC's interior design program in the three-year history of the rankings. UC beat out Kansas State and Pratt Institute for top honors on the interior design list.
UC's architecture ranking for 2002 is up from a ranking of No. 6 on the list last year. UC was rated behind only Cornell and Harvard on the architecture list.
More than 1,500 leading U.S. architecture firms and more than 300 leading interior design firms were asked from what schools they have had the best experience hiring employees in the last five years.
The Almanac of Architecture & Design is considered the leading annual reference on the design professions and is co-edited by James Cramer, the former chief executive of the American Institute of Architects and former president of the American Architectural Foundation. DesignIntelligence is the monthly publication of the Design Futures Council, a think tank of industry leaders dedicated to anticipating and preparing for future trends in architecture and design.
