The theatrical premiere of "The Weighting Game," a play to mark Body Acceptance Week at the University of Cincinnati, has been canceled for Thursday evening, April 19. Instead the evening's performance will feature students, faculty and staff in the Obie Award-winning drama by Eve Ensler, "The Vagina Monologues."
It will be presented 7-9 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at the African American Cultural and Research Center (AACRC). Three performances of "The Vagina Monologues" were sold out in February here at UC. The dramatic monologues center on the beauty and strength of women's bodies.
Body Acceptance Week 2001 is sponsored April 16-20 by the UC Women's Center, Wellness Center, Working on Wellness, Seed and other campus units. In addition to the premiere, the week will feature other performances, a clothing drive, comedy and movies -- all centered on the theme, "As I Am." Admission to all events is free. The week's highlights include:

Body Acceptance Fair and Clothing Drive - Members of the UC community are invited to donate gently used clothing that they've been saving in their closets in hopes of losing weight. Clothes will be given to the YWCA and FreeStore. The fair will also distribute "As I Am" candy bars that will be used in a raffle. Students who collect three or more stamps on their wrappers by attending Body Acceptance events will be entered in a prize drawing on Friday evening.
