Bill Cosby to Speak at Commencement 2001

Entertainer and educator William H. Cosby, Jr. will be the
All-University Commencement speaker Friday, June 8.
Although best known as a comedian and TV star, Cosby also earned
a master's and doctoral degree in education from the University
of Massachusetts following his undergraduate education at Temple
where he was a scholarship football player.
His television career began with "I Spy" back in 1965. He
starred in 16 movies, and his book "Fatherhood" was an instant
best-seller.
His community service includes work on behalf of the Sickle
Cell Anemia Foundation, the United Negro College Fund, and
Operation PUSH.
"Dr. Cosby, I think, will be an excellent speaker and one the
students will enjoy," said UC President Joseph A. Steger in
announcing this year's Commencement speaker.
Tickets will be required to attend the 2001 All-University Commencement. Information about ticket distribution for guests of the
graduates will be available in the spring.
