Criminal Law Students To Host
Anti-Death Penalty Speaker

The death penalty will be under discussion when a New York defense attorney comes to the UC College of Law on Tuesday, March 19.

Tanya Greene, a deputy capital defender with the New York Capital Defender Office will present "State-Sponsored Killing: The Machinery of Death in the U.S. Today" beginning at 12:15 p.m. in Room 118 of the College of Law. Her presentation is being sponsored by UC's Criminal Law Association.

Greene has a long history of involvement in legal and human rights issues. She was previously with the Southern Center for Human Rights in Atlanta, where she represented indigent capital defendents in Georgia and Alabama. In 1999, she won the "Reebok International Human Rights Award."

The talk is free and pizza will be served in advance of the presentation. Application has been made for one CLE credit for attorneys who attend. For more information, e-mail Valerie Field of the Criminal Law Association.
