The DAAP Library is holding an exhibit to coincide with the Jan. 29 lecture, "The Intersection of Art and Science, Rethinking the Techniques of the Old Masters." The exhibit will be on display from Jan.15-31.
The DAAP Library will present prints of some of the paintings that represent the theory that the Old Masters used optical devices to achieve the realistic quality of their works. The photos are from the book by artist David Hockney, Secret Knowledge: Discovering the Lost Techniques of the Old Masters. Other displays will hold historic literature on optics from the University of Cincinnati Archives and Rare Books Department. The exhibit is sponsored by University Libraries and is free and open to the public.
DAAP Library hours are Monday through Thursday, 8-10 p.m., Saturday, 1-5 p.m. and Sunday, 1-10 p.m.
