The University of Cincinnati community is asked to participate in Lee National Denim Day on Friday, Oct. 5. Students, faculty and staff are asked to wear denim and make a donation to support the research, education and treatment of breast cancer. It's the world's largest one-day fundraiser for breast cancer awareness and research and UC's third straight year of participation.
Half of the contributions will benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the nation's largest private fundraising organization dedicated to fighting breast cancer. The foundation is named in memory of a Peoria woman, a 36-year-old mother of two who died of breast cancer in 1986.
The remainder of the UC fundraiser will benefit the local Barrett Cancer Center.
Donations can be made Oct. 5 between 9 a.m.-6 p.m. at the UC Wellness Center, Student Life Pavilion South, suite 100, or on East Campus at University Health Services, Holmes, first floor.
