The response of the business community to the racial tensions in Cincinnati will be one of the many issues explored at University of Cincinnati's Managing Diversity in the Workplace Conference. The 10th annual conference will take place Friday, Oct. 26, 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Albert B. Sabin Convention Center downtown.

Members of two teams set up by the Cincinnati branch of the Federal Reserve Bank will discuss their development of a response plan to the city's unrest last April. The teams are composed of representatives of the Federal Reserve Bank and the Cincinnati branch of HRC Services, which specializes in human resources and consulting.

The conference, sponsored by UC's Institute for Managing Diversity in the Workplace, goes beyond black and white as it examines the growing Hispanic population in Greater Cincinnati as well differing cultures, religions, ages and even work styles of employees. The conference features presentations by local and national business leaders, who will provide helpful information for workplace managers and executives, human resource managers, educators, corporate trainers and other leaders and influencers of the business community.

The keynote speaker is Na'im Akbar, author and psychologist and executive director of Mind Productions, Incorporated, the publisher and distributor of Akbar's books and lectures around the world.

Regular registration is $295, with discount registration at $275 for groups of 10 or more representatives of the same business. Registration is open until the day of the conference, but increases to $325 (regular registration) after Oct. 19. For reservations, call (513) 556-9170.
