UC Announces Ten New Partnerships With Local Schools

Cincinnati -- The University of Cincinnati Office of the Provost and the College of Education today announced awards to support 10 new partnerships between UC and Cincinnati Public Schools, as the institutions strive to ensure high school students stay on track to a college diploma.
University Provost and Senior Vice President for Baccalaureate and Graduate Education said funding for the collaborations will come from the UC Institute for Community Partnerships (UCICP), the Ohio Board of Regents and Procter & Gamble, with matching funds from the individual partners.
The partnerships demonstrate a commitment between UC and Cincinnati Public Schools to build pre-kindergarten to college initiatives which could become national models. The intended result: more Ohio college graduates and improved economic development for the state of Ohio.
The funded projects are:
$12,000 - Development of a comprehensive health and wellness program for students of the East End Community Cultural Heritage School in cooperation with the College of Education and College of Nursing.

$11,000 - Plan to integrate distance-learning technology in environmental science at Walnut Hills, Hughes Center and Clark Montessori, in cooperation with UC School of Planning and College of Education.

$10,000 - Expansion of mental health services at Rockdale Academy in collaboration with UC School of Social Work.

$10,000 - Expand information literacy for social studies and science concepts beyond the current Hughes and Clark Montessori schools with University Libraries
