The College-Conservatory of Music is well known throughout the Tristate for its top quality mainstage productions, but it's rare for the public to catch a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes activity that makes the glitter shine on stage.
Grand Hotel, CCM's winter musical, plays through Sunday, March 4, in Patricia Corbett Theater.
Senior photojournalist Lisa Ventre followed the action during recent production and rehearsal times. CCM students and faculty in costume design, scenic design, lighting design, sound design and stage management collaborate on every one of the college's shows, making them completely self-produced.
Set in an elite hotel in 1928 Berlin, this musical fantasy brings together a beguiling assortment of guests and employees. It is guest directed by Paul Daigneault, with musical direction by Roger Grodsky and choreography by Diane Lala.
Lighting is designed by James Milkey, while the set designer is Paul Shortt and lead costumer designer is Dean Mogle.
Set design student Kaz Maeda is seen here as she applies the stain to a revolving door that serves as a centerpiece in the musical.
