Hometown rivals UC and Xavier will be scoring for the same team when they come together for the annual Crosstown Help-Out Saturday, Feb. 2. The volunteer teamwork between the two rivals has been a tradition since 1998.

The winners will be our local urban schools, as an estimated 550 volunteers from UC and Xavier do general school maintenance such as painting and plastering school walls, waxing the floors, weatherproofing buildings, picking up trash and cleaning windows.

UC and Xavier volunteers, including students, alumni, staff and friends, will first meet at the University of Cincinnati Event Pavilion from 8-8:30 a.m., and then head out to schools in Clifton, Madisonville, Westwood, Norwood, the West End, and Newport and Covington in Kentucky. Volunteers should plan to work from about 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Volunteers will then return to UC's Event Pavilion for a party hosted by UC and Xavier students. They'll enjoy music, food and prizes, plus a chance for tickets to the Crosstown Shootout.
