The Career Development Centerís Job Location and Development Program has designated Feb. 18-22 as Internship Week at UC. The week long event is a prime opportunity to link talented students, seeking relevant work experience to employers.
Activities will include mock interviews, workshops conducted by employers, networking with businesses, and skills building. Students can also interview for internship opportunities. The idea is to connect students who are seeking job opportunities with employers scouting to fill internships.
Internship week focuses upon the importance of enhancing professional skills with hands-on experience and the value of gaining in-depth knowledge of the workplace.
Arthur Walton, student employment coordinator, said hiring students interns reduces the cost of recruiting while increasing on-campus visibility. Students benefit, because their resumes remain on file for future internship or career opportunites.
Participating companies are: Procter & Gamble, Cinergy, Bank Earning Alliance, LíOreal, State Auditor Office, Hyatt Regency, and the American Cancer Society. Recruitment for various areas, such as finance/accounting, market research, communications, human resources and information technology will be offered.
