Ohio Governor Bob Taft has announced the appointment of H.C. Buck Niehoff to the University of Cincinnati Board of Trustees, for a term ending Jan. 1, 2011. He replaces Michael Barrett, whose term expired.
"Buck Niehoff will be a valuable addition to the Board of Trustees," said UC President Joseph A. Steger. "He has been a good friend to the University of Cincinnati and the UC Foundation for a number of years, and brings considerable knowledge about investment strategies to help us build for the future. He is a very thoughtful advisor. He also has a great sense of humor."
Niehoff, a 1972 graduate of the UC College of Law, has been actively involved with the university for many years. He has served as a member of the Board of Visitors for UC's College of Law since 1992 and for the last two years has also been a member of the Board of Advisors for UC's College of Nursing. Niehoff chairs UC's Annual Business Campaign to gain financial support for the university from area companies. He also serves as co-chair of the Development Committee for the College of Nursing's Center for Living with Dignity.
Along with his wife Patti, Niehoff founded and sponsors UC's "Evening with a Great Teacher" community outreach series to promote teaching excellence. He also brings experience gained from serving on the Board of Governors of The Art Academy (1995-present) and on the Board of Trustees of Denison University (1983-1989).
Niehoff also serves as a board member of the Ohio Bicentennial Commission, Cincinnati Museum Center, the Mercantile Library, the Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati, The Ohio Cancer Research Associates and the Corporation for Findlay Market.
