Thousands of new students will get a summer education about college life when the University of Cincinnati's two-day orientation gets underway July 1.
As they gear up for college, not only are these students adjusting to being freshmen again, but they're also learning how to get around campus (without a school bus), budgeting without the supervision of Mom and Dad, and discovering that although they may not have as many one-day classes as they did in high school, the study load is heavier.
UC's orientation, which runs through Aug. 1, has programs for both students and parents as they are welcomed to the university community. The new students will be guided by UC student mentors -- 30 student orientation leaders and four student coordinators who have undergone an intensive two-week training program to answer questions about UC's programs and services and to respond to parent expectations and student concerns.
The first group of new UC students will start checking in July 1, 8 a.m. in Room 525 of Old Chemistry building. First-year UC students must attend orientation before they can register for classes.
The UC student orientation hotline is (513) 556-2486 or click here to register through the web.
