The university renewed an old tradition for the holiday season yesterday. Faculty, staff and students were invited to share in a holiday reception Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Events Pavilion.
President Joseph Steger and the vice presidents hosted the celebration. An estimated 750 people, including Maggy Fogler of Resident Education and Development, seen at left in her brightly lit holiday head gear, joined in the festivities. Light appetizers, carved meat selections, lots of Bananas Foster and punch kept the crowd munching and sipping as Erwin Stuckey and his trio provided musical entertainment.
The music inspired DAAP student Emily Joy and engineering major Brian Harrington to do some dancing.
Organizers were Debbie Weinstein and Beth Wilhelmes of Student Affairs and Human Resources, who joined Kathleen Armstrong, Gloria Riker and Janet Wolf in putting up decorations.
For years, UC hosted holiday parties for the university community in the old lobby at Tangeman University Center. That tradition was discontinued in the early 1990s.
This year's party gave Tanya Roach of Student Organizations and Activities, seen below left, a chance to see - and give a hug to - Trever Thomas of Admissions.
