ADMINISTRATOR JOINS UC’S NATIONAL PRESENCE IN EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION

University of Cincinnati Associate Vice President for Admissions Thomas Canepa is the new state representative for Ohio to the national ACT organization. Canepa, of Mt. Washington, was appointed the new representative for a three-year term, following a vote by the 900-member organization.

While the ACT is widely known as the test that determines a student’s readiness for college, the ACT is also an independent, non-profit organization that provides more than 100 assessment, research, information and program management services in education and workforce development. The Ohio ACT organization, one of 39 state volunteer organizations nationally, is represented by high-school teachers, principals, counselors and college admissions representatives and advisors.

Canepa’s responsibilities will include participating in the ACT annual meeting, council meeting and regional and national meetings, representing the views and interests of the ACT membership. He will also report to fellow members in the state organization on significant developments regarding ACT programs and services.

“This is another opportunity for UC to be involved, not just on the state level, but nationally on policies and practices in educational success,” Canepa says. He has served on the state ACT council for two years.

Hundreds of companies, ranging from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies, use ACT’s workforce development programs to determine the effectiveness of their hiring and workforce training procedures.
