A new annual award program will offer individual UC employees and teams of staffers more than a pat on the back for giving great service. The new President's Quality Service Awards, to debut this fall, will bestow up to six $1,000 awards to individuals and up to two $2,500 team awards.
All members of the UC community - faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni - are encouraged to nominate deserving employees for this recognition program, according to James R. Tucker, vice president for Administrative and Business Services. Nominations for the inaugural 2002 awards are now being accepted and must be submitted by Oct. 4.
All permanent employees of UC are eligible for nomination. Self-nominations are also accepted.
The awards are an outgrowth of the Quality Service Initiative established by President Joseph A. Steger in spring 2001 with the mandate to improve customer service on UC campuses.

Additional statement: All nominations should include a narrative of no more than one page citing significant evidence or examples of quality service. Up to three attachments may accompany the nomination form.
