- The organization development and training office will hold Quality Service Initiative (QSI) training Thursday, Feb. 7, from 8 a.m. to noon in Room 450, University Hall. The training is open to new employees and to any UC employees who were unable to attend last year's sessions.
The Quality Service Initiative was launched at UC during spring 2001. The Feb. 7 program will examine the history of the program as well as the model, committees and expectations driving the initiative. The program will study the concept of "the customer," will cover the basics of quality service and will encourage the sharing of examples of outstanding service at UC.
The Feb. 7 QSI session will be offered again on May 3. It will then be presented at least once a quarter. To register for the Feb. 7 session, call 556-1188.
A Feb. 11-12 special workshop is planned for academic unit heads and associate deans with primary responsibility for academic programs. The program, sponsored by the Office of the Provost, will bring to campus Brent D. Ruben, Distinguished Professor of Communication and executive director of the Center for Organizational Development and Leadership at Rutgers University. Ruben has been invited to speak with UC academic leaders on two topics: "Challenges Facing the Academy: Implications for Academic Leaders" and "Approaches to Identifying Priorities and Focusing Energy in a Time of Increasing Demands and Decreasing Resources."
