The deadline for nominations for UC's top two research awards has been extended until Friday, April 5th.
RIEVESCHL AWARD FOR DISTINGUISHED SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
Funded by: the generosity of Dr. George Rieveschl
Award criteria: The emphasis is on research achievement at UC. The award committee will consider research merit and its impact on the field,
attainment of national and international recognition for superior scholarship through archival publications, continued creativity over a sustained period of time,
and professional activities, including editorial activity for reputable national/international journals, and academic awards of the candidate, and the professional
status of the individuals providing supporting letters. Letters from outside the university are especially helpful. The committee will assess whether the candidate's research has significantly influenced the progress of science
in the particular field.
Recognition: Includes presentation at the All-University Faculty meeting in May and $2,000.
SIGMA XI RESEARCH RECOGNITION AWARD
Sponsored by: UC Chapter of Sigma Xi and the Office of the Vice President for Research
Award criteria: The award recognizes distinguished research of younger staff members at UC in fields of science
appropriate to Sigma Xi. A nominee for the Sigma Xi Award must be within 15 years of his or her terminal degree. A major portion of
the distinguished research should have been performed at UC. Membership in Sigma Xi is not required.
Recognition: A $500 award and presentation of a special Sigma Xi public lecture.
