James A. Wuenker, a driving force in the Cincinnati development community for 50 years, will be honored with the University of Cincinnati Real Estate program's Distinguished Service Award at the program's 12th annual banquet. The banquet is Thursday, May 31 in the Regency Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati.
The keynote speaker will be nationally known political humorist and columnist Mark Shields, a regular on CNN's The Capital Gang and Evans, Novak, Hunt & Shields, as well as a regular contributor on PBS' NewsHour with Jim Lehrer.
Wuenker is the former Vice President of Economic Development at the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, where he retired in January after spending 16 years with that organization. He played an active role in the landmark Michael Gallis report, "Preparing for the New Millennium," and has donated much of his time to the Metropolitan Growth Alliance, as well as groups like Prison Outreach, Knox Presbyterian Church and the YMCA.
In addition to the Distinguished Service award, the Real Estate Program will announce the winners of its Student of the Year awards. Bank One is sponsoring the event. The emcee and chair is John Stevens of Neyer Properties.
