Hoxworth Blood Center and the UC Center for Community Engagement are gearing up for a three-day blood drive May 15-17 with the goal of seeing 300 UC students, staff and faculty roll up their sleeves to potentially save a life. The blood drive will be held from the hours of 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Event Pavilion.
William Harris, director of the Center for Community Engagement, says it's hoped the spring drive will be even more successful than the one in January, which brought out a record turnout of 185 people.
UC's Greek organizations are making the blood drive part of Greek Week, with sororities and fraternities turning out donors. The UC Community Action Network and UC marketing class are also spreading the news about the blood drive. Harris adds the Office of Housing and Food Service is getting the word out to students who live in the residence halls.
Cincinnatus and Darwin T. Turner scholars can count their donations toward one hour of community service. Signups for appointments are available online through the UC Center for Community Engagement, or donors can contact Hoxworth's UC coordinator Genise McKenzie at 558-1562.
