The Great American Smokeout is Thursday, Nov. 21, and the UC Wellness Center is inviting campus smokers to join the Smokeout and see if they can kick the habit for good. Millions of smokers nationwide will make the attempt as part of the American Cancer Society's annual event. The American Cancer Society blames smoking for one in five American deaths each year.

The UC Wellness Center will be promoting the Smokeout on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. in the Dining Pavilion. The Wellness Center will have information on the harmful effects of smoking as well as how to successfully quit smoking, plus the campus community can play a "wheel of questions" to learn smoking and tobacco-related information.

The UC Wellness Center also has a smoking cessation program that provides free counseling to those in the university community who are trying to quit smoking. For more information, call 556-6124.
