Coffee drinkers have a new spot on campus to sip their favorite brew. A new Starbucks, managed by Marriott Kingsgate, opened on East Campus this week.
The Starbucks has proven popular already and is located at the junction of the Medical Sciences Building and University Hospital, next to the hospital cafeteria and across from the bookstore.
Among those enjoying the up-scale brew maker on a recent afternoon were Horacio Rilo, far left, director of cellular transplantation and associate professor of surgery and pediatrics, and Judy Braun, associate to the director of the Department of Surgery.
For now, the new Starbucks' hours are 7 a.m.-4 p.m., said Diane Henderson, director of University Conferencing. As word spreads, the new Starbucks will expand its regular hours to 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. "We are, however, looking for feedback from customers on the hours and will make adjustments if the feedback indicates that would be a good idea," said Henderson.
