Petitions Available for Student Government Elections

The 2002 elections for student government will be held April 15-18. Students can now pick up petitions to run for the Student Body President/Vice President ticket or for the opening of At-Large Senator.
Petitions can be picked up at the secretary's desk of the Student Government Pavilion. Additional forms covering permission to release grades and an affidavit acknowledging the procedure of the election will become available at 8 a.m. Monday, March 4 , in the Student Government Pavilion. All forms need to be completed and returned to the Student Government Pavilion by 5 p.m. Monday, March 25.
Students eligible for the positions must be currently enrolled undergraduates with at least six credit hours at the University of Cincinnati. The candidates for Student Body President and Vice President must be full or part-time matriculated students, and must have held 2.0 or higher cumulative grade point average for the past two quarters. The candidates must also get a combined total of 250 petition signatures of undergraduates to run for office.
Candidates for At-Large Senator must have attained at least six credit hours at UC, attended at least one full quarter, and earned a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Candidates must also get at least 125 undergraduate signatures on their petition to be entered in the election.
Michael P. Hamilton, UC Student Senator and chair of the Elections Facilitation Committee, adds any formal campaigning, including endorsements or fundraising, is prohibited until April 1, when campaigning is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
All voting in the election will be held online, with the site to be listed at a later date. An orientation meeting will be held March 29, with time and location to be announced later.
