University Pavilion

Photos by Dottie Stover

University Pavilion is a six-story, 100,000 square foot building that provides student services in one central location on campus.

UC alums will be familiar with its location.
Demolition of old Beecher

The building was constructed on the site of the old Beecher Building, which was demolished in fall 2000. Construction began on the University Pavilion in 2001.
Student service offices started relocating to University Pavilion Nov. 4, 2002.

University Pavilion houses the following offices and student centers:

  • Floor One -- The Student Success Center includes the Career Development Center and Educational Services, which provides services that put students on a successful path to their college degrees. Career Development Center An area for student tutoring is located on this floor. The center also has 15 interview rooms for job recruiters looking to hire new UC grads.

  • Floor Two -- The One Stop Student Services Center has the cross-trained staff, called University Service Associates or USA's, who can address questions that cross multiple student service offices. The Office of Disability Services and the Cashier are also located on this floor, as well as six testing rooms, 34 computer terminals and stations where students can plug in their own laptops. Note: Look for Pods! The One Stop Student Services Center holds some of the most progressively designed furniture in the country. There are 18 "pods" in this center -- 12 "home bases" for the University Service Associates and six that serve as student assistance areas. The pods -- portable work stations enclosing a living-room type setting -- were selected for their flexibility, to fit the theme of providing flexible student service. Designed by Knoll International, University Pavilion is one of the first buildings in the country to feature this furniture, following installations at New York City's Guggenheim Museum and Daimler Chrysler's corporate offices.

  • Floor Three -- The University Visitors Center is now the location where UC's daily visitors begin their campus tours. The center has an 88-seat presentation room, a 125-seat multipurpose room and a warming kitchen for meals, receptions and other food functions. Four family counseling rooms are also included to provide "living room" settings for private admissions meetings with prospective students and parents.

  • Floor Four -- Floors four through six house administrative offices. Enrollment Services, Admissions and Financial Aid processing offices are on the fourth floor.

  • Floor Five -- Registrar, Student Accounts and Collections processing offices are located on the fifth floor.

  • Floor Six -- Executive offices will begin to move to the sixth floor of University Pavilion on Dec. 9. Those offices are relocating from the Administration (Van Wormer) Building. They include the Office of the President, Board of Trustees, Vice President for Finance, Vice President for Governmental Relations and University Communications, Vice President for Information Technology and CIO, Vice President for Legal Affairs and General Counsel and Vice President for Student Affairs and Services.
