AACRC Anniversary Celebrated with Ushindi

The African American Cultural and Research Center will continue its yearlong 10th anniversary celebration with a series of events called Ushindi 2002.
Ushindi is a Swahili word for "victory." Events will include:
7 p.m. Friday, May 3
Awards and recognition ceremony featuring guest speaker Penni Sweetenburg-Lee.
Sweentenburg-Lee says to greet each day as an opportunity to make a difference. An evangelist, dynamic speaker, promoter, facilitator, events planner and educator, she is presently the director of development/associate director of the Career Center at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.The AACRC will also present the Theodore Berry Award for Excellence in Student Leadership, other honors for academic excellence and the Marjorie Parham Award.

7 p.m. Saturday, May 4
AACRC Choir 10-Year Anniversary Concert
Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church
The concert features a reunion of former choir members, joined by current members and special musical guests. The concert is free. Transportation will be provided for students. Students may sign up for transportation at Ethnic Programs and Services or the AACRC.

Let's Go to Church With Rev. Freddie T. Piphus
The pastor of Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church will lead the morning service.
1-3 p.m. Sunday, May 5
Cookout on Campus Green and Sigma Sigma Commons.
