The University of Cincinnati has hired Margie Van Meter-Rolf to serve as Assistant Vice President of Governmental Relations effective December 11, 2000. Van Meter-Rolf was graduated from UC in 1990 with a B.A. in International Relations. She also served as UC's Student Body Vice President in 1989.
Van Meter-Rolf, a native of Ashland, Ohio and daughter of the late State Senator Tom Van Meter, is former Director of Legislative Affairs for the offices of Ohio Treasurer and Secretary of State. Prior to that she served as legislative liaison for the Ohio Department of Industrial Relations and as Assistant Secretary=s Representative for the United States Department of Labor.
"Margie is an excellent addition to the Governmental Relations staff," said Greg Vehr, Vice President for Governmental Relations and University Communications at UC. "She knows Columbus and the legislative process as well as anyone and she is well-respected by those working in state government."
Vehr explained that Rolf will work from Columbus and provide the constant presence necessary in today's legislative environment. "Term limits and competition for scarce resources make it necessary for UC to have someone on the ground in state government on a daily basis," Vehr said. "She will be a valuable resource for the entire university community."
Van Meter-Rolf lives in Powell, Ohio with her husband, Rob, and their two children.
