About Us

University of Cincinnati Welcome sign

The Ombuds Office is always available as a resource. You can contact us with confidence that you will be treated with respect and fairness. The Office of the University Ombuds is not a confidential resource for matters mandated by federal or state law to be reported, such as sexual assault or harassment.  Any disclosures made to Ombuds’ personnel with regard to these matters must be reported to the appropriate University personnel.  The Office of the University Ombuds may still maintain confidentiality with regard to other university related concerns.

The Office of the University Ombuds engages in a variety of informal conflict resolution methods, including:

  • mediation
  • negotiation
  • consultation
  • coaching

We provide guidance and information regarding any applicable university formal grievance processes and help explain university policies and procedures.

Our Mission

To respond to the concerns of the university students, faculty and staff. We examine complaints, refer problems to other university offices and offer mediation and conflict resolution services.

We are dedicated to cutting through bureaucratic red tape in order to solve problems confidentially and promptly.

The ombuds office is not an agent of notice for the university except for cases of sexual assault and harsassment when we have a duty to report under federal and state law. The office keeps no case related records. The ombuds office is a part of the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.
