Sloan Foundation Research Fellows Program - Free Informational Workshop
University of Cincinnati Foundation’s Department of Corporation & Foundation Relations, UC – Office of Research and UC LEAF are co-sponsoring a workshop for targeted faculty about the Sloan Foundation Research Fellows program and application. Below is the Sloan Foundation’s announcement regurading this opportunity. The Sloan Foundation awards prestigious $50,000 fellowships to candidates holding a Ph.D. in chemistry, computational or evolutionary molecular biology, computer science, economics, neuroscience, mathematics, ocean sciences (including marine biology), physics or a related field. Applicants must hold a tenure track (or equivalent) position and normally be no more than six years (prior to 9/2007) from completion of their most recent Ph.D (there are exceptions to this—see attached announcement). The workshop is open both to potential applicants and to faculty who may be in a position to nominate or write letters of recommendation. Applications are due to the Sloan Foundation September 16, 2013.

There will be very brief introductory remarks. The workshop will focus on a brief presentation and open Q&A with UC faculty member and 2013 Sloan Fellowship Award Winner, Dr. Hairong Guan, Associate Professor of Chemistry. Dr. Guan is willing to share his Fellowship application with workshop participants and we will provide background on the foundation and lists of fellowship winners from the past 2 years.
