The UC LEAF Seed Award is a competitive funding opportunity offered annually to women STEM faculty to support research efforts aimed at collecting pilot data for future external funding submissions. We will prioritize applications from faculty without current funding.
The Career Branch Award is offered to all women STEM faculty to provide support for advanced training in a particular area, for interdisciplinary and cross-institutional collaboration, for entrepreneurial, diversity and community endeavors or to fund faculty initiated projects that benefit UC and fulfill the UC LEAF goals.
The Leadership Branch Award provides funding to support attendance at national conferences or training programs that help prepare mid and senior level faculty for positions of academic or professional leadership.
Awards are open to female STEM scientists in eligible STEM disciplines. Please review the application requests below for eligibility requirements. Proposals are due by 5 p.m. Friday, April 1 and awards will be announced by the end of April. Funds will be available when the semester begins on August 22, 2016.
UC LEAF is committed to inclusion and increasing participation of women in STEM from underrepresented minorities. Research that is applied or translational in nature is encouraged, as is research that is culturally responsive. At least one award in each category will be given to an applicant from an underrepresented minority. If you are eligible and wish to be considered for the diversity track, please complete the corresponding box in the application packet.
