First-Year Students and their families - Bearcats Bound Orientation
Bearcats Bound Orientation takes place in the summer between June and August.
All freshmen entering in the fall are required to attend this comprehensive day-and-a-half program. During Bearcats Bound Orientation, you will learn about academic policies, college procedures and graduation requirements for your program.
You will learn about campus life, student activities, have the opportunity to make friends and meet your future classmates before the quarter begins. You will also have the option to spend a night or two in one of the residence halls where you will have the opportunity to socialize with other students.
You will receive academic advice, register for your first quarter classes and find out what you need to succeed in your college program. During Bearcats Bound you will have the chance to meet new and current students, faculty and administrators. You will have the opportunity to ask questions as well as take care of any unfinished university business.
Parents and families play an integral role in the successful transition of their student to college.
We have designed a special orientation for parents with a host of sessions and events that will explore the many changes parents face when their students go to college. There will also be several important general information sessions in areas such as safety, health issues, financing college and residence halls. Parents will meet with advisors from the colleges to discuss course and academic major concerns and graduation requirements. There will be an introduction to the UC Parents Association. All programs will be informal with plenty of opportunities to ask questions as well as meet the presenters and other parents.
