Vision
The UC PBL Steering Committee will be an active and integral component of the University's efforts to become an institution that:
- recognizes the importance of both scholarly teaching and the scholarship of teaching and learning;
- supports faculty in their efforts to become scholarly teachers and in their efforts to conduct diverse methods of pedagogical research;
- provides resources that support the use of Problem-Based Learning and other learner-centered, inquiry-based/guided pedagogies which result in greater student engagement, learning and retention.

Mission
The mission of the UC Problem-Based Steering Committee is to:
- serve as advocates for the integration of student-centered learning pedagogies throughout the University;
- provide a model for successful implementation of Problem-Based Learning across departments, disciplines and colleges;
- empower and support faculty by providing diverse opportunities to obtain the knowledge and skills needed to successfully use PBL and related learner-centered pedagogical strategies to enhance student learning.
