The 2009 International Symposium on Metallomics will be held on June 7 - 10, 2009 in Cincinnati, OH USA which immediately follows the ASMS Meeting in Philadelphia. ISM `09 builds on the outstanding meeting held in Nagoya, Japan in 2007, bringing together scientists from the biological, chemical, environmental, clinical and measurement sciences to effect a greater understanding of the role of metals and metal compounds in many biological, chemical, environmental and clinical systems.

Metallomics, a new journal from RSC Publishing, will be launched in January 2009. The announcement was made at the International Forum of Proteins meeting on Health, Food and Environment by Joseph A. Caruso, who will chair the Editorial Board of the new journal. The first Advance Articles for new journal Metallomics: Integrated biometal science are now freely available online, offering scientists an eagerly anticipated new resource linking the research fields related to biometals.

The Metallomics Center of the Americas has been established in the McMicken College of Arts and Sciences, in view of the expertise and equipment at Agilent Technologies and at the University of Cincinnati, plus other associates from the Americas. It is the first of its kind organization in the world as well as an unique partnership that will be envy of many institutes. With the state-of-art analytical techniques, there is more and more demand to assay the specific metal form or "species". This has been referred to as elemental speciation in the past, "Metallomics" is the emerging term. Please visit our website for further detail.
