Metallomics is the study of metals and metal species, and their interactions, transformations, and functions in biological systems. While traditional approaches have focused on the role and interactions of a single (or few) metals in a protein or enzyme system, metallomics purports to study global, multielement interactions and relationships. Scientists across the spectrum of metallomics include biologists, chemists, physicians and clinical scientists from industry, government, academia, doctoral and graduate students. All are invited and strongly encouraged to take part in this scientifically exciting multidisciplinary conference. It promises not only great science, but to advance the state-of-the-art for metallomics studies. In addition to the scientific program, ISM `09 will include participation from the leading suppliers of scientific instrumentation and an outstanding social program that will ensure opportunities to interface with colleagues from around the world. The conference promises to be both intellectually stimulating and personally satisfying for all participants. This highly stimulating program features an exceptional format including plenary, keynote and submitted talks. Participants will also find a poster session that spans multiple disciplines, but has metals, with their importance to multiple disciplines, as its foundation. The 2009 International Symposium on Metallomics will feature a host of sessions, never before grouped in such an exciting way for one conference:
Metallomics Tech – sessions on new instrumentation and technology, metal tags and labels, metal imaging and new methods.
Human Metallomics – two sessions
BioGeo Metallomics
Phyto Metallomics
Microbial Metallomics
Environmental Metallomics
General Sessions – three of these to be sure we include everything important
Poster Sessions – on each day to enhance our cross-disciplinary understandings and foster one-on-one interactions
