Goal 3: Achieve Academic Excellence

  • Moving the Needle UC jumps six spots to 139 among the “best National Universities” category in the U.S. News and World Report rankings, with significant improvement in the reputational category. UC has climbed a total of 33 places since 2000.
  • Best Prepared Class This year’s entering class is the most academically qualified freshman class ever. There are more than twice the number of National Merit Finalists and the average ACT test score has never been higher. More incoming freshmen than ever are using Advanced Placements credits to accelerate their college careers.
  • Moving Ahead Graduation rates improve 2 percent over last year and retention rates gain another percentage point.
  • UC International UC grew study abroad by more than 100 students over last year, with approximately 850 students studying abroad last year. And more students are now choosing destinations like China over European countries.
