Goal 6: Create Opportunity

  • Funding Priorities - The UC |21 Academic Priorities Council develops five priority themes for fund raising and internal reallocation: Learning in the 21st Century; Health in the 21st Century; Science and Technology in the 21st Century; The Arts, Design and Humanities in the 21st Century, and Urban Solutions for the 21st Century.

  • Private Support Grows - UC received more than $84 million in private support in fiscal year 2006, and new gift commitments increased four percent over fiscal year 2005.

  • We're All UC - The faculty and staff campaign surpasses all expectations with a 32 percent increase in total dollars and 12 percent increase in donor participation.

  • More See UC - UC Magazine, formerly known as Horizons, more than doubles circulation to raise awareness and support fund raising.

  • Diversity Task Force A presidential task force develops overall strategy and action plan for promoting diversity.

  • Help Where It’s Needed Most UC ranks No. 1 among elite colleges enrolling financially needy students, according to a Chronicle of Higher Education analysis. At a dozen of the top universities, fewer than 10 percent of students come from households earning less than $40,000 a year, while at UC, that portion reaches close to 40 percent.

  • Powerhouses Impact Ohio - A recent study reveals that Ohio’s three major research universities – UC, Ohio State University, and Case - are not only among the state’s largest employers, but also have a $6.2 billion annual impact and prepare much of the skilled workforce necessary for the state’s future prosperity.
