Dick Friedman Comes Home
Barely a foot in the door of McMicken Hall and a staff member welcomed Dick

Barely a foot in the door of McMicken Hall and a staff member welcomed Dick
Friedman with a bear hug and big "Welcome Home!" Dick started his UC career
at McMicken College as an Assistant Dean. He served the College from
1972-1988 in numerous positions including Director of the McMicken Honors
Program (now the UC Honors Program), Pre-Medicine Adviser, Medical School
Admissions Committee member, and Student Affairs advocate.
His student-oriented commitment to UC led him to a higher calling when he
decided to leave McMicken College and accept a position in the president's
office. As Special Assistant to the President for the past 14 years, Dick
has served as the personal designate for the President on numerous
committees both within and outside of the university including currently
serving as Co-chair of the Hillel Jewish Student Center Foundation Community
Advisory Board and Vice Chair of the Hoxworth Blood Center Advisory Board.
Dick's dedication to McMicken students has obviously had an impact on both
him and his students. This July, Dick returned to McMicken as Senior
Assistant Dean, and Director of Alumni Relations. His former students are
now successful doctors, lawyers, educators and business people. He hopes he
can re-connect and reinforce strong connections with these alumni. McMicken
is proud to have Dick Friedman back in the family.
