Veteran journalist Al Salvato died Monday night of complications from leukemia. He was 56.
Salvato was a colleague and mentor to writers as a teacher at Northern Kentucky University and the University of Cincinnati, and as a working journalist. He was a reporter and copy editor for The Post and a stringer for the New York Times. At the University of Cincinnati, he taught journalism and was director of student media - overseeing the News Record student newspaper
