The Singapore Experience

CERI is working with the Office of International Programs to create “The Singapore Experience”.  Building upon what we have in place, the University of Cincinnati seeks to target expansion of our work integrated learning offerings with a goal of sending no less than 10 students per academic term to intern in Singapore.  We feel that Singapore is currently the most suitable place in Asia for U.S. students to participate in this targeted expansion as English is the official business language.  Singapore also has a high growth rate (14.7% in 2010) and a low unemployment rate (2.1% in 2010).  Ernst and Young ranks Singapore as the most globalized country in the world so without the need to learn a second language, UC students can have a one of a kind global experience in one of the most significant areas of the world for their future.  With the submission of a grant in April of 2012 we hope to use scholarship funding from the Freeman Foundation as the assistance we need to get the first group of students started, the word of mouth from student ambassadors who return to campus will keep up the momentum.
