Cynthia Lockhart

Cynthia Lockhart is an associate professor of Professional Practice at the University of Cincinnati, where she teaches courses in the Cooperative Education Curriculum to Fashion Design and Product Development/Merchandising students in the College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning. Lockhart has lectured and presented on Cooperative Education and Fashion Design at conferences in the United States, France and Italy. Professor Lockhart has developed cooperative education partnerships with leaders in the fashion industry such as: Abercrombie and Fitch, American Eagle Outfitters, Aeropostale, Liz Claiborne, Sears, Tommy Hilfiger, Saks Fifth Ave, R.G.Barry, J.C. Penney, DFS, the GAP, Limited Too and numerous others.

Her more than twenty-five years of professional fashion design and industry based experience include designing for Koos van den Akker, Nicole Accessories, Andrea Gayle, Oggi LTD, Riflesso, and Leslie J. Additionally, she managed her own design studio specializing in accessories design serving local and national clients from 1981-1999. Summary of clients include: Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Ave, Macy’s, Henri Bendel, Barney’s, and Charivari.

Professor Lockhart is a member of the Division of Professional Practice Curriculum Committee, RPT Committee and a member of the Cooperative Education and Internship Association. She also participates as a member of the International Textile Apparel Association, the Ohio Designer Craftsmen and the Women of Color Quilters’ Network. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Arts Consortium and currently serves as on the advisory board for the Arts for All programs. Her work has been recognized in local and national juried exhibits and publications. As an award-winning designer/fiber artist she is an active contributor in the fashion/art community from a local, national and International perspective.
