![]() Sandra McGlassonSandra McGlasson has been a faculty member in the Division of Professional Practice at the University of Cincinnati since 1985. The scope of her experience encompasses careers in both the professional, as well as the academic sector. In her eighteen-year professional career with the Mead Corporation she advanced to the role of the national Graphic Design Manager for their Container Division. During that period, Ms. McGlasson was the recipient of numerous local, regional, and national awards for packaging design. Her professional involvement also includes a 35-year history with the Art Director’s Club of Cincinnati where she has served in several leadership roles. Since joining the University, in her faculty role as cooperative education advisor for graphic design majors, Professor McGlasson has developed the most professionally respected co-op program for graphic design students in the field. The scope of the program includes participating employers both nationally and internationally. Sandy has also played a significant role in serving her Division, the College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning, and the University in various joint governance activities/initiatives which have included: participation in the University Faculty Senate and chair of several standing committees; member of the University Senate Cabinet; active member of the University Athletics Committee for over ten years, serving as Committee chair for 6 years, and fulfilling other leadership roles. As a member of the University’s Steering Committee responsible for the University’s NCAA Certification, Professor McGlasson chaired the subcommittee assessing Gender Equity. She was instrumental in the university’s response to meeting gender equity/Title IX guidelines. Her service contributions to the missions of the University were recognized when she received a 1996 Faculty Achievement Award. Professor McGlasson was the first recipient of the John and Wanda Mosbacker Award in recognition of excellence in teaching resulting in enhanced learning opportunities for cooperative education students, 2000. She served as Interim Director of the Division of Professional Practice for the academic year, 2001-2002. On a personal note, Sandy and her husband are avid Bearcats fans, is a devoted dog mom to three mixed-breed canines, loves gardening, and enjoys keeping a running email dialogue with many of her graphic design grads.
