Barbara A. Holland, Ph.D., holds academic affiliations with Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, Portland State University and University of Sydney. She is an internationally recognized expert in organizational change in higher education with a special emphasis on the institutionalization and assessment of community engagement and has published and consulted widely on these topics. She has served in senior leadership roles at several universities in the USA and Australia, at the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, and was Director of the Learn and Serve America National Service-Learning Clearinghouse for seven years. In 2006, she received the Research Achievement Award from the International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement, an organization for which she currently serves as chair. Barbara was one of two of the first Honorary Fellows named by the Australian Universities Community Engagement Alliance in 2008. She is Editor or co-editor of two journals and an editorial board member on six other journals, serves on several international boards, and is a lead faculty member for the National Engagement Academy for University Leaders. Barbara lives and volunteers in the Portland, Oregon area.
