Dr. Nancy Hamant

Biography

One of UC’s most involved and respected faculty, Dr. Hamant is Associate Professor Emerita of Teacher Education at UC’s College of Education, Criminal Justice and Human Services (CECH). Dr. Hamant holds four degrees: a BA in History from the McMicken Arts & Sciences College, a BA in Education, an MA in Educational Administration, and an Ed.D in Educational Administration all from CECH.  

Dr. Hamant chose UC for many of the same reasons our current students do – she was the recipient of an academic scholarship from the McMicken College of Arts & Sciences.

She is an avid Bearcat fan and served as the NCAA Faculty Representative to the Athletics Department for 20 years. She is a UC Foundation Trustee Emerita, and a Lifetime Member of the UC Alumni Association. She is also a member of the Charles McMicken Society (Life Benefactor and Founder), the Herman Schneider Legacy Society (Legacy Benefactor), UCATS (George Smith Society), C-Club, Order of the Black Blazer, the Ad Hoc Committee on University Governance and Co-Chair of the Proudly Cincinnati Campaign Leadership Committee for CECH. 

Dr. Hamant received the UC Alumni Distinguished Service Award in 1982, and the UC Foundation Trustee Award in 1998. She was awarded CECH’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2001 and received the Faculty Senate University Service Award in 2006.

She is married to Tom Hamant, College of Business ’58.
